Please consider joining my team in the annual Walk to End Lupus Now, taking place in Wilmington, Delaware.
Many years ago (more than 20), I was diagnosed with Lupus. After treatment, I went into remission for many years. I was in remission for so many years that I thought I was going to be forever OK. Last year, my little friend came back stronger than before. This time, everything is different, my life is different, I'm different. I am STRONGER. Nothing is going to make me give up to Lupus. I tried to ignore the fact that I have Lupus for many years because I didn't want people to stamp a label on me. Now we are learning to live together again. I'm not asking for pity or compassion, I am asking for understanding. I don't want to raise concerns, I want to raise awareness. Please join us for the 10th Annual Walk to End Lupus Now in Wilmington, DE on June 24, 2018. A bunch of friends will gather together to walk while they celebrate with me "Living Mi Vida Lupi". Please support my cause.
Walk to End Lupus Now™ is the signature event of the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc. In more than 50 cities across America, thousands of people walk to make a difference in the lives of those affected by lupus and to raise essential funds for research, education, and support services.
It is estimated that 1.5 million Americans and 5,000 individuals in Delaware have lupus. Lupus is an acute and chronic (lifelong) autoimmune disease in which the immune system is unbalanced, causing inflammation and tissue damage to virtually every organ system in the body. It is complex, and no two cases of lupus are the same. After more than 50 years of no new treatments for lupus, recently a new drug has been approved. This is wonderful news; however, we need an arsenal of new safe treatments to conquer lupus because the new treatment is not for all people with lupus. There is hope on the horizon, and with your help, we can find additional better treatments and a cure for lupus.
The Lupus Foundation of America, Inc. (LFA) is the foremost national nonprofit voluntary health organization dedicated to finding the causes of and cure for lupus and providing support, services, and hope to all people affected by lupus. The LFA and its nationwide network of nearly 300 chapters, branches, and support groups conduct programs of research, education, and advocacy.
Thank you in advance for helping me AND the Lupus Foundation of America, Philadelphia Tri-State Chapter! I know we'll all feel good about supporting this important cause!
